FOUR YEARS AGO, MY STUDIO AND OTHER BUILDINGS ON THE SAME HISTORIC BLOCK IN TOWN WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY A FIRE THAT STARTED IN ONE OF THE OTHER BUILDINGS. I LOST ALL OF MY PAINTING EXCEPT FOR SIX IN A GALLERY ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY STUDIO.
HOWEVER, A LOT OF THOSE IMAGES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE ARCHIVES HERE AND FORTUNATELY, SOME ARE MARKED SOLD AND ARE WORKS OF MINE THAT STILL EXIST ELSEWHERE.
SO I AM STARTING OVER AGAIN AT THE TENDER AGE OF 83. BUT 35 + IS HOW I FEEL.
HANG WITH ME AND LETS SEE WHERE I TAKE MYSELF AND MY WORK!
G Booker Jennings is my studio name, and I am finally living true to my being, pursuing art. Booker is my middle name as seen in the website title - there is another George Jennings Fine Art, who is a portrait artist, and he is quite good. Look him up.
Booker is an ancestral name very well known in the Tidelands region of Virginia, where I am living presently in Tappahannock, Virginia, and where my studio is located.
For me, art is a way to constantly monitor and interpret my emotional relationship with my immediate environment. I grew up trying to keep my feet as barefooted and as wet as possible, particularly in tidal waters. Otherwise I could be found fishing Virginia's mountain streams or wandering through fields and mountain backwoods just to open my senses to all of the magnificence around wherever I might be. Presently the bottom of my feet are itching to be in wider tidal waters or the mountains. Trips to the shores and mountains of the Atlantic States are a favorite place for me to breath and paint.
Your visit to the site is greatly appreciated and staying in touch would be fun. Leave your email address if you are interested in updates related to my art, and heaven knows what else! A friend once told me "It's obvious you love to write - your emails are unnecessarily long, but always interesting to read!" I get a kick out of painting with words too!
Thanks for coming.
